fight Russia.
What characterized the
Western Front?
A deadlocked region between
France and Germany
characterized by trenches,
heavy casualties, and little
movement.
What characterized the Eastern Front?
An area between Germany and Russia
on which a more mobile war took place
What does “unrestricted submarine
warfare” refer to?
In 1917 the Germans said their submarines
would sink any ship in the waters around
Britain.

When a countries devotes all their
resources to the war effort.
What is Rationing?
So many goods were needed for the
war that people at home could only buy
small amounts of those items that were
needed for war.
What is Propaganda?
One sided information designed to
persuade, keep up moral and
support for the war.

President of the United States
during WWI. Also one of the
Big Four singers of the Treaty
of Versailles.

President Woodrow Wilson’s
Fourteen Points were his proposals
for Peace in Europe. A plan for the
postwar world.
What is the Treaty of Versaille? Who
were the “winners” and who were the
“losers” as a result of the treaty?
A treaty to end WWI in which the
powers of Europe (Italy, France,
Britain) were the winners and
Germany and President Wilson
were the losers.
What was the League of
Nations?
The league was to be an
international association whose goal
would be to keep peace among
nations.

the war?

The assassination set off the
system of alliances, bringing
all the major powers of
