and Tourism launched the schools
competition.
The competition is aimed at grade 5
and 6 learners
The aim of the competition is to raise
awareness on global climate change
issues in South Africa
The climate change teacher’s
resource guide: Learning about
climate change
DEAT launched the climate change teacher’s resource
guide in 2003.This book is used by teachers to
explore some of the key questions related to climate
change. These issues include:
The causes of climate change
The effects of climate change
Who is doing something about it?
Vulnerability and Adaptation
DEAT organized a workshop on
vulnerability and adaptation to climate
change
The participation was from government
departments and other institutions
The aim of the workshop was to identify
sectors that can be affected
A discussion paper drafted
Clean Development Mechanism
A workshop organized to introduce the
CDM to government departments
A criteria was developed for the
evaluation of projects
