Physical Fitness:
A
state in which the body can handle
the demands placed on it - both
muscular + cardiovascular.
F.I.T.T Principle:
Frequency, Intensity, Time, & Type
Frequency
- how often you do the exercise.
Intensity - how hard/how much effort you
put into the exercise.
Time - how much time you spend
exercising.
Type - what type of exercise are you
doing.
Cardiovascular Endurance:
The
effectiveness of your heart and
lungs working together to provide
your body with a sufficient amount of
oxygen during continuous exercise
over a period of time.
Muscular Endurance:
The
ability of your muscles to exert
a force over time without becoming
overly tired.
Strength:
The
most weight you can lift or the
most force you can exert at one time
is a measure of strength.
Flexibility:
Your
ability to move within the range
of motion for each joint.
Body Composition:
The
proportion of body fat in
comparison to lean body tissue such
as muscle & bone.
BMR:
Basal Metabolic Rate
The
rate at which you use energy
when completely at rest, this varies
according to age, gender, weight,
body size & shape.
Aerobic:
Vigorous,
rhythmic physical activity
that aids the heart and increases the
body’s capacity to take in and use
oxygen (exercise with oxygen).
Anaerobic:
Intense
physical activity that lasts a
short time and involves great bursts
of energy in which the muscles work
hard to produce energy (exercise
without oxygen).
Heart Rate:
How
many times your heart beats in a
minute - fast or slow.
