What we are Learning
We are working on our Theme 3 Unit
focusing on the forces of nature that
shape and reshape our planet. The
genres covered include an information
text, photo essay, nonfiction, mystery,
and an expository nonfiction.
Happy New Year!
In Language Arts we are working on
identifying and using past, present,
and future forms of verbs. We also
continue to do daily proof-reading
exercises to improve the overall quality
of our writing.
The students have started working on
Unit 3 which focuses on measurement,
data, and graphing. They will be
learning about both customary and
metric units of length, capacity, and
weight during this unit.
The students continue to impress me
with their creativity in Writer’s
Workshop. We have enjoyed a few
‘Just for Fun’ recipe projects this
quarter that were delicious.
The fifth graders will be learning about
the Earth in Science during the month
of January. Our current chapter
teaches us that our Earth is constantly
changed by processes that occur on
and within the crust.
In Social Studies, we will be focusing
on the Thirteen Colonies and how
colonization and conflict went hand-inhand.
I would like to say a HUGE, “THANK
YOU,” for the very generous Christmas
gifts. You all made me feel very special.
