UniStar V & VP Series Features
High-efficiency and Protection
PWM sine-wave topology yields excellent overall performance.
Voltage and Frequency
Wide frequency and voltage windows of 45Hz - 65Hz and 60-144Vac (for 120Vac input), or 120288Vac (for 230Vac input).
Internal Static Bypass
To protect the unit from overloading, the UPS will automatically switch to bypass mode in 30
seconds if Loading is at 105% ~120% of rated capacity, it will automatically switch back to
inverter mode once overload condition ceases.
User Controls
An easy-to-read user friendly LCD display provides real-time indication of all major system
parameters and status, including load level, battery remaining and fault signals.
Battery Management (BM)
Innovative battery management circuit analyzes battery discharging status to adjust battery cut-off
point, Internal “HOT-SWAP” maintenance-free sealed type battery.
DC-start function ensures the startup of UPS even during power outages.
Programmable receptacles offer the capability to load shed during any power interruption, while in
battery power mode or during overload condition, via the use of special communication software
provided, thus reserving backup power for priority loads.

Standard Communications
SNMP: Internal SNMP Card is standard on all UPS’s to allow UPS management across a LAN
using any of the main network communication protocols - TCP/IP, HTTP and network interface
(SNMP). ViewPower Pro shutdown/monitoring software shall enable the UPS to integrate easily
into medium and large sized networks and provide reliable communications between the UPS and
management systems employed.
Modbus: Internal MODBUS/JBUS Card, Protocol converter also standard and used to monitor the
UPS using the MODBUS/JBUS protocol on RS232 or RS485 serial lines. It shall also manage a
second independent RS232 serial line that can be used to connect to other devices such as the
SNMP.
Relay Interface: Four voltage free relays with no common point is standard, provided through a
sub-D9 connector. Consisting of 4 output signaling relays

Paralleling
The UPS has expansion capabilities for up to 4 modules paralleled
for capacity or redundancy as required to support future growth.
The UPS units can be connected in parallel and shall share the
current and load between them.
In a system with several UPS units connected in parallel, there is a
single MASTER unit and the remaining units are SLAVE units. The
UPS units must be the same rating and the MASTER is chosen on
start-up. The MASTER and SLAVE units can exchange roles. If a
unit is being serviced, e.g. due to an inverter fault, it will
automatically be excluded. The load at this point will be shared
between the units that are still active; if the power in output is
excessive for the remaining UPSs, the system logic will switch all
the units, including the UPS that was excluded, onto the by-pass
line.
PL Unique Features
Adaptive Feed Cancellation
Uses AFC Technology that provides advanced control with AFC forward cancellation
circuit for low harmonic distortion.
Automatic Restart
Upon restoration of utility AC power after a power outage, the rectifier shall
automatically restart and resume the inverter and battery recharge loads. Functional
only on units with batteries.
Power Conditioning Mode (UL1778)
The UPS shall be capable of operation as a Power Conditioner (without batteries),
and upgraded to a complete UPS with the addition of adding batteries without major
internal wiring.
Frequency Conversion Mode (UL1778)
The UPS shall be capable of converting the frequency of 60/50hZ programmable from
the front Panel.
220/127VAC Application
Can be configured for 220/127VAC Input & Output from the Front Panel

FirstLine P with Battery Cabinet
The UPS uses a valve-regulated sealed lead acid (VRLA) heavy
duty industrial battery, designed for auxiliary power service in a UPS
application. The primary battery is furnished with impact-resistant
plastic cases and housed in a matching cabinet(s) next to the UPS.
The UPS is capable of utilizing Wet Cell & NiCad batteries.
Protection Against Deep Discharge and Self-Discharge:
The UPS is equipped with a device designed to protect the battery
against deep discharge, depending on discharge conditions, with
isolation of the battery by a circuit breaker. From the monitoring
panel you can adjust the battery shutdown voltage as a function of a
discharge coefficient to avoid excessive discharge at less than the
rated output. A second device helps avoid self-discharge of the
battery into the UPS control circuits during an extended shutdown of
the UPS (over two hours).
Battery Self-Tests:
1. The battery monitoring system performs the following automatic
functions:
• Battery circuit check, programmable 9-99 days.
• Partial discharge test every three months.
Paralleling
The UPS has expansion capabilities for up to 8 modules paralleled
for capacity or redundancy as required to support future growth.
The load at this point will be shared
between the units that are still active; if the power in output is
excessive for the remaining UPSs, the system logic will switch all
the units, including the UPS that was excluded, onto the by-pass
line.
Power Sags-Brown Outs
• Power Sags is a low voltage condition
• This is best handled by a voltage regulator
• This can also be corrected by a on-line
double conversion ups.
