Writing Assignment:
Were the Crusades a success or a failure?
Choose a side, and then answer the question.
In your answer, attempt to persuade the reader as to why you are
right.
Be sure to focus on your supporting details – the information
that supports your thesis
Also focus on analysis - - basically, explaining all of your
supporting details in depth
EXAMPLE: The Crusades were a success because of the increase
in trade. (supporting detail) Trade increased because many
Crusaders were introduced to new goods in the Middle East, and
they wanted them. (analysis - - it explains why trade increased)
