Comfort Keepers Halifax’s traditional in-home care services, we
also offer in-home nursing services Halifax, giving one-on-one
medical care to an individual at home or in a facility.
Working together with the caregiver who is a private nurse can
help deliver a level of care not normally available outside a
medical facility.
How Can We Help You
The licensed/registered practical nurses (LPNs and RPNs) and registered
nurses (RNs) of Comfort Keepers Halifax can perform many medical tasks such
as the following:
• Administering all forms of medications, including injections.
• Providing personal medical care, including oral cavity suctioning, bowel
supervision, nail trimming and foot care.
• Postoperative Care
• Taking Blood Samples
• Wound care, cleaning and dressing
• Filling insulin syringes, interpreting blood sugar results and physicianordered sliding scale dosages, and drawing up and/or mixing insulin for
future injections
• Ensuring catheter and ostomy hygiene
• Overseeing and organizing the dispensing of medications
• Care training for family members
Continuity of Our Nursing Service
• Our patients have an ongoing relationship with one primary nurse.
• The primary nurse accepts responsibility for service delivery, and when
necessary, for coordinating the patient's nursing care.
• The primary nurse develops familiarity with the patient, gains an
understanding of his or her needs, and can better anticipate potential
risks and complications that may arise.
• The primary nurse will also ensure that our services are continuous and
consistently delivered in the event that a secondary nurse may be
required.
• Continuity of care is accomplished through one-on-one reporting, case
conferencing and the maintenance of clear patient records.
