This is achieved through effective educational methods. • MLS Math course of study is organized in five strands from Grades K to 12. Each strand progresses in complexity over the grades up to High School. The strands follow the international standards. The 5 Strands of Mathematics 1) Numbers and Operations 2) Algebra 3) Geometry 4) Measurement 5) Data Analysis and Probability Goals of Mathematics Problem Problem Solving Solving Ability to comprehend Connection with other subjects Goals Mathematics of Goals Mathematics Ability to use appropriate tools Positive attitude toward math Ability to communicate Our Mathematics Program Math Program Elementary School Middle School High School Elementary School • At this stage, we foster the comprehension and application of the basic mathematical skills. Middle School • Middle grades content will highlight Rational Numbers & Algebraic Thinking. • Students will develop fluency in solving Multi-step Equations and Modeling Linear Functions. • A particular area of emphasis includes Graphical Representation of Statistical Data, Probability & Geometry. • Students will expand their skills to compute with Real Numbers and are challenged to apply their knowledge and experience in new and more difficult situations. High School Grade 9 Algebra 1 Grade 10 Geometry Trigonometry Algebra Grade 11 Algebra 2 (Pre-Calculus) Grade 12 Regular Math Advanced Math Grade 12 • Regular Math covers Calculus Level 1 and Statistics • Advanced Math covers Calculus Level 2 and Statistics • Students taking Regular Math will be able to study Business, Economics, Political Science, Mass Com., etc... • Students taking Advanced Math will be able to enroll in the Faculty of Engineering.
