the body and helps cause our
reflexes
 Brain: control center of the body
 Spinal Cord: carries messages between the brain
and the body
 Nerve Cells: a small unit of the nervous system
The Cardiovascular System
Moves nutrients, hormones, and
gases throughout the body
 Blood: carries nutrients, oxygen and other things to
cells
 Blood Vessels: tubes that carry blood throughout
the body
 Heart: muscle that pumps blood throughout the
body
The Immune System
Removes bad organisms from
the blood and fights sickness
 Lymph Node: structure that kills sickness
 Spleen: filters bad things from the blood
 Thymus Gland: causes white blood cells to become
T-cells that kill off sickness
The Respiratory System
Provides body cells with oxygen
and removes carbon dioxide
 Trachea: tube where air moves to the lungs
 Bronchi: two tubes that air goes through after the
trachea to the lungs
 Lungs: main organs
 Cilia: smalls hairs that remove dust from the air we
breath
The Muscular System
Consists of muscles that provide
motion and maintain posture
 Voluntary Muscles: muscles you can control
 Arms, legs
 Involuntary Muscles: muscles you cant control
 stomach, lungs
The Skeletal System
Serves as the frame of your body,
protects your organs, and works
with muscles so you can move!
 Bones: hard material of the skeletal system
 Bone Marrow: the tissue inside of your bones
 Cartilage: tissue at the end of your bones that helps connect
some bones
 Ligaments: tough fiber that connects some bones
 Joints: where two bones meet
