Rule During the New
Kingdom

Deir el-Bahri, Thebes
Hatshepsut built a temple at Deir el-Bahri, Thebes. She
built this temple west of the Nile and near the river of
Thebes. There were three courts, the upper court, the
middle court, and the lower court. The lower court
was once planted with trees and vines. The ramps
lead to the higher levels. In the middle court, the birth
colonnade and punt colonnade were on either sides of
the ramp. On the other side of the middle court with
the birth colonnade, was Anubis Chapel. Hathor
Chapel was on the left side of the Upper court. On the
upper court there were carvings and sculptures
honoring Hatshepsut's birth.

Hatshepsut
Hatshepsut was the fifth ruler of the 18th dynasty.
Hatshepsut's remains were long considered lost, but
in June 2007 a mummy from Tomb KV60, known as
the "Strong One" was identified as her remains by
Zahi Hawass, the chief of Egypt's Supreme Council
of Antiquities. Modern CT scans of that mummy
believed to be Hatshepsut suggest she was about fifty
years old when she died from a ruptured abscess after
removal of a tooth. Although this was the cause, it is
quite possible she would not have lived much longer;
there are signs in her mummy of metastatic bone
cancer, as well as possible liver cancer and diabetes.
Cleopatra
Cleopatra VII ruled Egypt from 51 B. C. to 30 B.C. She ruled
with the help of her brother. Eventually her brother died in a
battle because he was not a good ruler.
Caesar met Cleopatra and was charmed immediately by her.
Caesar (a Roman) and Cleopatra married and had a baby in 47
B. C.
Caesar, later, was murdered.
Cleopatra married a man named Antony. When Antony was
Thutmose III
Thutmose III was the sixth ruler of the 18th
dynasty. He reigned from 1479 to 1425 B. C.
Historians consider Thutmose III to have been
the Napoleon of Egypt because of his military
conquests. He made seventeen military
campaigns, and used warfare as a way of
turning Egypt into a superpower and a military
force to be reckoned with. Thutmose III is
considered to be one of Egypt 's greatest
warrior pharaohs.
