They have a rigid cell wall. (outermost covering)
Chloroplasts (green)
Go through the cycle called photosynthesis.
Usually square
1 large central vacuole
Cytoskeleton (inside cell)
No chloroplasts
Can be any shape
Many small vacuoles
Do respiration
Have a nucleus
Are eukaryotes
A cell is like a house. There
are many things that make a
house function properly just
like many things make up a
cell.
The nucleus is the control center of the cell. It is like
the living room in a house because both places are
where things meet. They are the biggest part of both.
The cell membrane regulates what
goes into and out of the cell. In a
house this is like the door. In both
the door and cell membrane things
go in and out of them.
The cell wall is located inside of the plant.
This is what gives the organelle structure
and support. In a house the walls and
ceilings give it support.
Also known as the E.R. the endoplasmic
reticulum is made up of passages for proteins to
move throughout the cell. This is like hallways
because they both provide a way to move
throughout one another.
The Golgi apparatus packages and ships
proteins. This is like what a mailman does. My
dad is a mailman so he is like the Golgi
apparatus in my house.
The mitochondrion is what
produces energy within the
organelle. This is like
electricity that runs into the
house because they both
produce energy.
The vacuole is where waste, water,
and food is stored. A toilet also
stores waste, water, and food.
The ribosome produces proteins. This is like a kitchen in a
house. Inside the kitchen is where food is made that
contains proteins. So when you’re cooking it is like
producing a bunch of proteins. Food is essential to survive
just like proteins.
