adaptation response to climate change

SO 1: Enhanced adaptive capacity , resilience and
reduced vulnerability to climate change impacts
Initiate Long-Term Adaptation Scenarios (LTAS) study
Finalise White Paper on Climate Change
Four sector plans ( Water, Forestry , Biodiversity and
Agriculture) indentifying climate change impacts and
adaptation frameworks integrated into national sectoral
plans.
Risk Management Tools : SA Weather Service (SAWS)
forecasting / South African Risk and Vulnerability atlas
( Phase 2)
Number of adaptation , advisory and consultative forums
and advocacy group : 1 National , 1 Provincial , 5 Metro 6

 Facilitate approval of Climate Change Whitepaper by
Minister
 Develop mitigation sector strategy /plan ( electricity
sector)

instruments and systems : 2 studies – 2nd National
Communication and Transport Green House Gas GHG
study) and 1 economic/regulatory instrument
