Muscular dystrophy
• Group of inherited dz that lead to chronic,
progressive muscle atrophy.
• Usually appears in early childhood
• No cure but PT helps slow down the progress
• Most results in total disability and early death
Myasthenia gravis
• Chronic condition where nerve impulses are
not properly transmitted
• This leads to progressive muscular weakness
and paralysis
• Can lead to death if respiratory muscles are
affected
• Cause unknown—autoimmune
• No cure—supportive TX
