Sounds
Names on Belongings
We will continue in unit 2 as we
learn to blend 3 sounds
together to read words and
break words into their
individual sounds. We will also
learn about sentences this
week.
With chillier weather upon us,
many are wearing jackets in the
morning. Please be sure all
clothing has your child’s name in
it somewhere. We often leave
those pieces behind at the end of
the day. Thanks!

What we’re Learning
*-
This week we will be learning about
characters in stories. While reading at
home, ask your child who the
characters were and were they real or
make believe. In writing, we will work on
adding to our small moments stories. In
math, we are learning about and practicing
subtraction. We will be comparing groups
of objects to subtract, subtracting all or 0
from numbers and learning about taking
numbers apart. In science we will learn
about science safety.
Notes from the Teacher about Homework
We are starting math homework this
week. Each week your child will bring
home a story problem packet. There will
be 2 pages (front and back) for a total of
4 nights’ homework. Your child may work
at his/her own pace, but please have all
four pages completed and returned in the
red folder by Friday.
Thanks to those who have been reading
nightly and completing the reading log.
Starting this month and through May, I
will be sending home free pizza slips from
Pizza Hut’s “Book It” program for those
completing their nightly reading
assignments for the month. The slips will
be sent home at the end of each month.
