Our classroom is like our second home and everyone
has a right to feel safe and comfortable.
• Absolutely NO bullying, laughing at, teasing,
touching others, or disrespectful behavior of any
sort

have manners.
Active Listening
• Whenever anyone is speaking to the class, you
are to give them your undivided attention and
actively listen to what he/she is saying.

Guests in the Room
• Guests ought to feel safe and welcome in our
classroom.
• We must use manners and show respect.
• Comments and questions are to be respectful
and appropriate.
Textbooks
• Must be covered at all times
• May use a paper bag to make a cover
• Do not write in or on your book, fold or tear
any pages, tape the inside (book covers), etc.
• You are responsible for returning your book
in the same condition in which it was
assigned to you.
Reminder Books
• All HW & notices must be recorded in your RB.
• Parent/guardian signature each Thursday
night
• If your homework is not complete, have your
RB out on your desk and raise your hand.
• Missing assignment will be circled. Daily notes
may be written to parents.
• Daily highlight at the end of each day
Coconut Bucks
• Serve as classroom money
• Earning bucks: being at school on time, good
behavior, job completion, etc.
• Used for privileges, “purchasing” some supplies,
and monthly raffles
• May lose bucks (GRAMMAR MISTAKES…OWE 3)
• Several denominations
• Coconut bucks will be used in both classrooms.
• Coconut Man = Privileges
Using the Restroom:
• It is expected that you will use the restroom
during your break time, recess.
• If there is an emergency, you may use the
restroom during class (with permission),
though it will cost you 3 coconut bucks.
• May not use 15 min. before or after break
Feeling Ill or Injured
If you feel ill or have become hurt, please let
an adult know. If you are going to vomit
during class, whisper to your neighbor and go
quickly to the restroom.
Drinking Water
• Closed, clear water bottles are strongly encouraged
and may be kept on your desk.
• Room temperature water only (please do not freeze
nor refrigerate)
• You may fill it up before school, at recess, or at lunch
for free.
• The water fountain may be used during class at my
discretion, though it will cost 3 bucks.
• Flavored water, vitamin water, etc., are
NOT ALLOWED!
Sharpening Your Pencil
• Please be careful not to get the pencil
shavings on the floor nor in your desk.
• Pencil sharpeners must be closed.
• Empty sharpeners when they are full, over a
trash can.
• If you need to use the electric sharpener, you
may do so for 1 coconut buck.
Loss of Items
If you are playing with or using items
inappropriately or when you are not supposed
to (e.g., during instruction), they will be taken
away. These items may or may not be
returned.
Cell Phones
• Kept in backpack
• MUST BE TURNED OFF during school
• You may use your phone, as directed by your
parents, after school is over and you have left
school grounds (or in room w/teacher perm.)
• No gathering in groups after school to look at
content on phones
• Cell phones will be confiscated if misused
• Accidental ring—one warning per student
Heading on Papers
• First and last name, the date, and your room
number or homeroom island name, should be
neatly written in the upper right hand corner.
• Each paper should also have a title on the top
line.

Work Is Finished?
Getting Ready for Recess or Lunch
• Work organized on your desk or put away, all
trash thrown away, and sit quietly
• Dismissed by groups or individually
• 2 lines at the east door/ no talking
• You MUST WALK to recess and lunch. If you run,
you will owe the Running Monitor 3 bucks
(subject to change) and you will be benched.
Lining up after Recess
• Warning Bell (5 min.)= Get drinks, wash hands
• Freeze Bell (2nd)= Recess has ended. You are to
cease all talking and follow directions.
• Wait calmly in line, regardless of which
adult(s) is on duty.
• Do not bounce balls or continue to play
after the Freeze Bell.
Coming into the Classroom
End all talking and noise making at the door.
Without talking, walk directly to your seat and
begin your assignment promptly.
Orderly Desks
• Books and folders neatly stacked on your side and
be free of any trash, graffiti, stickers, and paper

science journal, & math notes inside of your desk
• May be fined 3 bucks for leaving extra items in
your desk

Time for a break!
Getting Ready to Switch
• Pack all belongings and throw trash away.
• The top of your desk needs to be clean and
dry for the next student.
• DO NOT LEAVE ANY PERSONAL ITEMS INSIDE
THE DESK.
• You will not be allowed to go back to your
desk if you forget something.
• You will be dismissed by group.
Switching
• Walk outside quietly.
• Walk towards the end of the building and file
in facing the door, forming 2 lines.
• Please stay off of the grass so that it stays
green and beautiful.
Getting Ready to Go Home
• All assignments should be recorded in your R.B.
• Make sure you have all HW materials, pick up
trash around you, stack your chair, and have a
neat and orderly desk.
• Wait quietly to be dismissed by the Dismisser
and meet me at the east door for 3 Hs or FP.
(Big Island only)
Completing Homework/Class Work
• All assignments are expected to be completed
and turned in on time.
• In order to receive full credit on math
homework, you must complete ALL problems
and show ALL required work.
• Work must be corrected in a red ball point pen
only (not a gel-ball point).
When You Are Tardy
• It is essential to be on time each morning.
• You are expected to be in line or at the door
when the bell rings; this will be strictly enforced.
• If you are late, come into the classroom quietly
and hand me your late slip.
• Sit down immediately and begin the assignment
we are doing. If you do not understand the
assignment, please quietly ask your neighbor for
assistance.
When You Are Absent
• Good attendance is vital to your success this year.
• Absent=missing imp. lessons, discussions, & tests
• If you are ill & cannot come to school, one of your
neighbors will record assignments & collect your
worksheets. Ask for clarification if needed.
• Try to complete the work in a timely manner and
place in the “Late/Absent” tray (write “Absent” on the
top of each paper).
***You are responsible for getting your work in and finding
out what you missed.***
Turning in Late Work
• Write “Late” on the top of your paper and
turn it in to the “Late/Absent” tray.
• You will receive only half credit at most for
late work.
Classroom Library
• Will open in a couple of weeks
• Procedures to come…
Computer Lab/P.E./Music
• Other teachers or adults will be instructing
you while at these activities.
• Follow their rules and instructions at all times.
• Rude or disrespectful behavior will NOT be
tolerated.
• Be respectful of all materials and equipment.
Emergency Situations or Drills
EARTHQUAKE:
1. Duck & cover under desk
2. Cover neck with one hand
3. Hold onto desk with other hand
4. SILENCE
5. Exit room when instructed WITHOUT
TALKING OR RUNNING

Getting Tests/Quizzes Signed
• All math and science tests must be signed by a
parent/guardian.
• After 3 days, a detention will be given.
Music
• An assortment of music will be used for
different types of transitions/messages
throughout the year.
• Music while working
Recycle
• Recycle all paper and plastic in the designated
container
Classroom Jobs
• Available for interested students
• Will last for either a trimester or the year
• Applications will be a part of the process in
“hiring” students for jobs
• Earn coconut bucks
