The University of the Built Environment
HCU was founded in 2006 by the Free
and Hanseatic City of Hamburg as a
"University of a new type"
It was an explicit target to reach
interdisciplinary innovation in teaching,
research and development of all
building and planning related
disciplines, living up to their common
routes
Combines all aspects of the built
environment and metropolitan
development
HCU is an important element in one of
Europe´s largest urban development
projects, the HafenCity
The CityScope
consists of
two 2 x 2
meter tables
and is able to
apply real
time changes
HCU‘s interdisciplinary
approach
HCU‘s latest research unit to accept the
challenge of urbanization in the digital
age
FindingPlaces.hamburg - Urban model to
identify areas for refugee
accommodation in Hamburg
the purpose of the project is to help
finding suitable areas for another 20,000
accommodation
the users receive real-time feedback
through visualizations from the
CityScope, displaying the impacts and
performance of their plans
interconnected in many possible
manners.
