Project Objective: environmentally friendly building
The project EASE has set itself the aim of supporting affordable and
environmentally friendly building. To achieve this the partners in the project set
up centres for future-oriented building. Among others the employment of solar
techniques and the ecological building of private homes will be demonstrated.
The demands that the demographic development imposes on the building
industry are also an important topic in this context.

Project Objective:sustainable development of
forests in the baltic sea region
•
Prime objective is the strengthening of sustainable development in the baltic sea region.
For this a management of forests, based on their use as resources, shall be developed,
which is overlapping sectors and inspired by transnational cooperation.
•
A conceptional approach shall secure the sustainability of the forest sector and improve
the influence on regional development and planning. The project EASE shall be realized
in this context, taking into account the realities in the baltic sea region.
•
The strategic focus lies on state forests and private forests. EASE regards products and
services of the forest sector as a unit, including the acting people in forest management,
regional administrations, research and science, processing industry and sector
overlapping exchange of knowledge.

Project Objective: research on regional
consequences of global climate
change
•
One of EASE‘s essential objectives consists of establishing the regional
consequences of the continuing global climate change and developing strategies and
terms of reference for adaptation. This sector of research could be accomplished in
partnership with PIK (Potsdam Institut für Klimafolgenforschung)
•
Preparation of studies on climate models.
•
Examination of consequences of global climate change on regional level.
•
Research on risk-awareness of the public concerning the general climate problem.
The Contents
11
Project Objective:
•
•
Research on renewable raw
materials
One of the main ecological topics of EASE, flanking the sector of research, is
concerned with renewable raw materials.
Work topics are the methods of cultivation and management as well as the
optimal gain and production of energy.
The Contents
12
Project Objective:Research on futureoriented
production of energy
A steady further and re-development of clean and future-oriented
production of energy is not only motor of economical development in
the region but also the tool against the climate change.

Niendorfer Gehege (Niendorf Enclosure):
Niendorfer Gehege is situated in the north-east of Hamburg, five kilometers from city hall, within
a sea of houses. Surrounded by major roads and Hamburg Airport visitors find recreation and
relaxation in the forest dominated by old and mighty beech and oak trees. As the Niendorfer
Gehege is dedicated as a recreational forest with a well developed infrastructure a guided
increase in the number of visitors will not result in a conflict with objectives of the protection of
nature and wildlife. It is centrally situated, easily accessible with public transport and has an
above average number of visitors seeking recreation. Therefore the Niendorfer Gehege is an
ideal site for the proposed EASE platform.
