North
Ayrshire supported accommodation for
young people of both genders aged 16-25.
The
service has 19 self contained bedsits with
ensuite facilities within the main building, and 4
attached single person flats.
The
flats give young people the chance to
experience a higher level of independence while
still accessing support.
Provides support and accommodation to five
young women aged 16-25.
The young people referred to the service have a
range of support needs and additional issues such
as: being in care, mental health problems,
bereavement, sexual assault, learning difficulties,
sexual abuse, family breakdown or neglect.
They may have a range of current problems such
as drugs and/or alcohol issues, self harm,
behavioural difficulties and offending behaviour.
Provides
support to young people once they
have left supported accommodation and are
moving into their own tenancy.
Referrals:
• NAC Housing Officers
• ASBO Team
• Self referrals
The two most common types of used by the
young people we support:
Synthetic Cannabinoids
Purchased:
Ayr
Paisley
Glasgow
One or two go and buy enough for everyone
who wants it.
Legal Highs are safer than any other drug.
No side effects.
No stigma involved: “everybody’s using them”.
Its a legal high therefore it must be safe.
Cheaper than other drugs.
No long term effects.
Aggression

Provide support to access relevant agencies
Liaise and network with other agencies who support the
young people
Provide ongoing emotional support
Peer to Peer mentoring
Prevention & Service Support Team have provided NPS
training for staff and young people in the service
Provide educational literature regarding NPS
