This game originated from devoted Blood Bowl fans playing their favourite game when relaxing on the
beach. It started out with simple passing to show off to bikini-wearing babes. The impressed glares
from the bikini-wearers quicly turned the friendly passing into a fight.
Now it is a little more organized, at least there are two teams.
The emense popularity this has on younger fans, has tickled the interest of major corporations like
Killer Breweries and Hero Sport Magazine, who are now unofficial sponsors of some of the more
popular Beach Blood Bowl tournaments.
All the rules from the original game apply, with the following adjustments.
The pitch
A Beach Blood Bowl pitch is narrower than the Blood Bowl pitch. It is 9 squares wide and 20 squares long.
The wide zones are 2 squares wide, and the end zones are 9 squares from the line of scrimmage.
This is due to the nature of most beaches. A wider pitch would cause some of the squares to be either in the water or on the
harder surface (grass, rocks or pavement) further inland. A longer pitch might be possible at some beaches, but most
beaches do curve preventing longer, straight pitches.
The other significant difference from Blood Bowl is the surface itself. Most (but not all) Blood Bowl games are played on
grass, whereas Beach Blood Bowl is played on sand. The softnes of the sand does not allow players to run as fast as they
are able to. Hence, no Spring skill may be used. Also Going For It is a lot harder, and is usucessfull on a roll of 1 or 2.
The weather
The weather is always Very Sunny, if not nobody would be on the beach to play. Changing weather on the kick-off table has
no effect.
The match
Due to the scorching sun and swealtering heat, no match will last for longer than 2x30min. Halves longer than 30min are
not possible as all players would be suffering from dehydration or heat stroke. (Turns started before the clock runs out,
are to be played in such a manner that both players gets the same numbers of turns in the half.)
Even if the game is cut short, post-match sequence is worked out as normal.
Set up
Since a Beach Blood Bowl pitch is smaller than the Blood Bowl pitch only 7 players from each team are
allowed on the pitch. Of these 7, minimum 2 must be on the line of scrimmage and maximum 1 player in each wide
zone.
Scattering balls
Balls do not bonuce well on sand, therefore
Scatter rolls are done with D3s instead of
D6s. This however does not apply to
Throw-ins, as the crowd loves to create
confusion on the pitch.
Wizzards
Wizzards do not go to the beach.
Star Players
Star Players do not stoop to the level of
playing outside a Blood Bowl arena.
Beach Bowl (the tournament)
The tournament aims to please the crowds while hanging out on the beach. Each team will play only
three matches before the results are official.
The team who has the most points wins, and is given the responsibility to clean up after the event.
(Beer cans, soda bottles and other stuff left by the spectators may be sold for goldpieces (extra
winnings)). They also find two beach babes, who will follow the team as cheerleaders.
The short summers of the Fimbulwinter-infested North has created an urge to get the most out of
every summer day, this has resulted in an increased interest in Beach Blood Bowl.
Due to this Hero Sport Magazine will sponsor the best offensive player of the tournament with 30.000
gold pieces, in return they want an exclusive in-depth interview with the player.
Killer Breweries, on the other hand, is willing to give the best defensive player an advertisement deal
worth 20.000 gold pieces.
