Tire Rotation
and
Maintenance
Servicing your Vehicles tires
Tire Rotation
 As
tires are used the rubber begins to
erode and wear.
 It becomes necessary to rotate the tires to
obtain maximum life out of the rubber
 Also a good opportunity to inspect your
tires for proper wear, and inflation.
Tire Rotation
 Tire
Rotations should be done according
to tire manufacture specs
 The rule of thumbs is 6,000 miles or every
other oil change
 New tires come with roughly 10/32 of new
tread
 Tires should be replaced when they reach
2/32 or reach the wear indicator
Tire Rotation
 Where
back?


do Tires wear the most? front or
In most vehicles the majority of the weight is
located in the front.
Also all turning force is on the front tires
regardless of fwd, rwd, awd cars
 THEREFORE
the front two wheels will wear
faster than the rear two.
Step 1
 Start


by assembling the right tools
Socket Size
Impact wrench
Breaker bar
Step 2

Figure out what your rotation pattern is.
Rotation Patterns Explained

It stands to reason, then, that the front tires will
wear much more quickly than the rears. Not
only that, but the right front tire might tend to
wear out more quickly than the left front
because the nature of American traffic
means that left-hand turns (which load the
right-front tire) tend to be taken at higher
speeds, and under higher loads, than righthand turns (which load the left-front tire). And,
right-side tires are more likely to be faced with
road hazards and hitting curbs. The result of
all this is tires wearing out at different rates.
Step 3
 Remove
ONE tire at a time
 Bring that tire to it’s new location
 Take the tire at the new location off and
then immediately put the original tire you
removed in it’s new location
 (All
the tires look the same so it is very easy
to get confused what tire is what if you
take them all off)

Being to put the tire back on
ALWAYS start the lug nut by hand
Putting a lug nut on with an impact
wrench can have disastrous results!!!
Once lug nuts are on by hand then can
be tightened using a star pattern
Step 5
Step 6
 Follow
these previous steps to finish
rotating all of the tires
Step 7
 Check
the side wall to find out inflation
pressure of the tire
 Check all the tires pressure and inflate if
necessary.
