What is “Cloud Computing”?

“Cloud” term comes from diagrams used to represent networks
Comes in 3 forms
– Software as a Service
– Platform as a Service
– Infrastructure as a Service
Why It’s Interesting
• These three types of computing can be found in everyday life
– Evernote, Springpad, Dropbox, iCloud, Instagram, Facebook, E-mail, and anything Google
• Approximately 700% growth in hardware and software that uses cloud
computing in the past 2 years alone
