The Renaissance
• A philosophical and artistic
movement that began in Italy and
altered how Europeans viewed
themselves and their world.
• Started in the mid 1300s and peaked
by the 1500s
Causes of the Renaissance
Towards the end of the Middle Ages (Dark Ages)…

– Turned to classical Greek and Roman literature
