Analyzing Influences
Learning how to analyze health information,
products, and services will help you act in
ways that protect your health.
• Step 1: Identify its source (who is trying to
get you to buy the food)
• Step 2: Identify the motive ( Why do they
want you to buy their product, does the
advertiser really take your health into
consideration
Common Advertising Techniques
Music and other sound effects add to the ad’s atmosphere,

Emotion Advertisers appeal to emotions that most humans experience,
such as love, hate, and desire. Emotion is often the motivating
factor for buying a product.

Bandwagon Appeals to the desire of most people to feel like they belong or
that they are part of the winning side.
