- moving capability in x, y
(phi for the DUT)
- moving range:
100/150mm (90° rotation for DUT)
- positioning accuracy:
15µm / 2µm (DUT)
- capability for mounting next generation of DEPFET module cases

New telescope positioning system:
it has proved itself
in beam test 2008
very nice alignment results
during the 2008 beam test
The module overlap was maximized up to perfect alignment,
for maximum track efficiency.

DEPFET power supply
Why do we need a compact multi channel power supply?
up to 20 supply voltages are needed for operating a DEPFET system
Problems with the „Classic“ setup:
- bulky
- high propability of false connections
- high prop. for wrong power on sequence
- EMI sensitive
- no U / I monitoring for all supplies
- expensive setup
- pain to operate a multi-module
DEPFET telescope (remember TB 2007)
... to avoid this problems

The advantages of a multi channel supply?
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
one supply per module
faster setup time, less cables
no patch panel, no protection board any more
standardized setup, no chance for fail connections
safe power on sequence, (µC controlled)
easy voltage and current monitoring or logfile
remote access to voltage settings -> DUT voltage scans

Status of the develompent progress:
time scale
begin of
2007
Development steps and work packages:
available prototype for S3a-System (CURO2/Switcher2)
linearity / dynamic range / control deviation
now
load tests (resistive, capacitive and dynamic)
firmware debugging for the USB microcontroller
EMI and noise measurements
S3a-prototype: stable operation with module
adapting to the S3b-system
redesign hardware ?
Summer
2009 ?
writing the application software
S3b-prototype: final tests
finally 10 power supplys ready to use with S3b, some parts are
already available -> parallel to the development working on HW
DEPFET power supply
Outlook with respect to the next generation of readout systems:
… after the S3a-prototype is finally tested …
Modifications for S3b readout system (short term goal):
- high power 5V channel for the digital readout board
- application software upgrade (win + linux)
Modifications for DCD readout system (long term goal):
- channels with higher current limitation ... (more than 300mA)
- high current channels with positive output + current sink capability
