Network provisioning
• Planning for provisioning of infrastructure for
testbeds,
• Technical liaison with DANTE and NRENs.
• Collection and specification of application/testbed
requirements.
• Possibly building of a traffic flow model for
planning use
• Planning to match testbed requirements with
infrastructure provision.
• Negotiation for dedicated bandwidth or VPNs as
and when required.

• European backbone
– Replace TEN155 (155Mb/s)
– 10Gb/s (between UK, FR, IT, CH…)
• NRENs : national research and education network
– From 155Mb/s to 2.5Gb/s
– GARR (IT), Renater (FR), SuperJanet (UK)

Network Monitoring
To implement basic monitoring tools (RTT, Packet
Loss, total traffic volume,.etc and TCP and UDP
throughput measurements) and present via WWW
accessible visualisation tools.
To collaborate with other WPs to integrate
measurements into Grid information service.
To measure Grid traffic volumes by protocol ? and
by application
To provide tools for Quality of Service analysis and
monitoring.

Network Services
• High performance transport protocol
• Demonstrate and build experience in use of
E2E diffserv services in Grid context
• Feedback experiences to NRENs and
DANTE
• Definition of an architecture for advances
reservation (GARA…)

Security
• To be defined at the end of the security
workshop on June 6th where the relevant
experts form all WPs will be present.
