Collaboration between WP7 and DANTE
Collaboration agreement established in June
2001
Technical Proposal:
 Test core network with equipment located in three
GEANT PoPs (London Amsterdam Geneva)
 Analysis of TCP performance over a wide area highspeed network
 Demostration of high-throughput data flows over long
time scales
 Pilot of the IP Premium service including end-to-end
tests with biological use-case applications (WP10)
 Exploration of use of reliable multicast for file
replication
DataGrid WP7 Meeting CERN April 2002
R. Hughes-Jones Manchester
Goals and benefits
 Better understanding of how high-speed infrastructures react to traffic
load
 Support in the definition of TCP-based services
 Tuning of the network infrastructure for better handling of best-effort
bursty traffic
 Exploration of QoS provisioning needed for less-than-best-effort
services
 Analysis of queueing behavior in over-provisioned networks
 Integration and sharing of the existing GEANT monitoring with end-toend DataGRID network monitoring data
 Feedback on the use of reliable multicast for innovative applications
 Provide information on the benefits of the IP Premium service
 Status:
 DataGrid IST style proposal document circulated for WP7 comments
 Then forward to Dante
