Monthly Benefits Brief – February 2017
The doctor is only a few clicks away!
Why wait around for the care you need right now?
Blue CareOnDemand lets you skip the waiting
room and connect with doctors and other health
care professionals through video visits. The service
is available 24/7, 365 days a year, from your
computer or smartphone. Your co-pay, deductible
and co-insurance will be processed the same as it is
for a normal office visit for State Health Plan
(Standard and Savings Plans) primary members.
Blue CareOnDemand could be a good solution
when you can’t fit a doctor visit into your schedule,
your doctor’s office is closed, or you (or your child)
feel too sick to leave the house. It’s an appropriate
way to get treatment for many common
conditions, including:
•

Urinary tract infections
Skin problems
Sinus problems
Cold and flu symptoms

It’s February – time to L
February is American Heart Month, so show your
heart some love by checking your blood pressure.
Regular blood pressure checks are one very easy
way to “listen” to what your heart is telling you
about the state of your heart health. If your
pressure is too high, ask your health care provider
for advice.
Remember that high blood pressure, also known as
hypertension, can be a silent, symptomless killer.
One in three American adults is living with
hypertension and 20 percent are completely
unaware of their risk! The good news is that
exercise, good nutrition, regular cholesterol checks
and regular blood pressure checks can help you
reduce your risks for heart disease.
If you’re struggling with high blood pressure, learn
more about your heart health – and get
information on heart-related screenings – by
