Definition of a Drug

Any chemical substance that causes a
physical or mental change in the structure
of the body.
Round Robin: Appoint a recorder and take
turns listing any drugs you know of.

Types of Drugs



Medicine: a drug given for the purpose of
prevention, diagnosis or treatment of a
disease or illness.
Prescription: a doctor’s written direction
for the use of medicine.
Over-the-counter: medicine that can be
purchased without a doctor’s prescription.

Illegal: drugs that are forbidden by law.
Crossover: drugs that are illegal but can
be used as medication.
