Stone age
• It was the earliest period. (1,000,000-3,000 BC)
• The Stone Age was about two million years ago.
It was estimated to be about 2.7-2.58 million
years ago.
• The people of that time used simple stone tools.
• Some tools were used to cut and pound
vegetables and to cut animal meat from their
carcasses.
• This is thought to be the starting point of
civilization.
Foods
• The stone age diet consisted of 65%
vegetables, fruits, and nuts. The rest was
consisted of 35% lean meat, eggs, wild
fowl, fish and shellfish.
Inventions
• Things invented during this time period
were stone tools, cave paintings, and
pottery.
• People also learned how to harvest fire for
heating, cooking, and for their protection.
Tools
• Paleolithic distinguished by the development of
stone tools.
• Flint was used for cutting their tools and their
weapons.
• Balsat and sandstone were used for ground
stone tools. Wood, bone, shell, antler, and other
materials were widely used as well.
• Things like sediment and clay were used to
make pottery.
