Like Cortez he was a conquistador and a Spanish explorer
He had traveled with 180 men and 27 horses to Peru to
conquer the Incas
The Incas were in the middle of a civil war which means that
their country was fighting between two parts of the country
Atahuapla, Inca emperor was kidnapped and held up for a
ransom
Pizzaro tricked the Incas by taking the gold but not giving back
Atahuapla and later he was killed

How did the Spanish explorers and
conquistadors change central and
south America forever?
• Most of central America speaks Spanish today
• No longer do the descendants of the Aztecs, Mayas,
or the Incas worship their Indian gods instead they are
Christian
• A lot of their traditions have disappeared and they no
longer do them
• They don’t believe in many gods anymore
