event
Parents attended a presentation on the
importance of healthy eating habits and
dangers of obesity
Children’s obesity - The purpose was to give
parents some guidelines to promote healthy
eating and reduce obesity and the risk for
major chronic diseases.

They discussed healthy snacks with parents as
well as the need to balance calories intake

The Local community joined together at the
school canteen
Dra Ana Carvalhas is addressing the audience
about the dangers of obesity and the need to
have a balanced diet and avoid unhealthy foods
Chef Luís Lavrador is giving some important
information about healthy cooking techniques
such as
seasoning foods with herbs, spices or lemon
juice;
Replacing solid fats like butter and margarine
by oils;
Increasing the amount of vegetables and/or
fruit in a recipe;
Taking the skin off chicken and turkey pieces
before cooking them;
Cooking with low-fat methods such as baking
and boiling, rather than frying.
The President of the Parents’ association is

the community

In the end a member of the Parents’ association
thanked Chef Luís Lavrador and Chef António
Neves for the work they performed in the local
food event as volunteers
