Grade Word Study
 We will work through one unit of word
study a week.
 Each unit focuses on a different set of roots
and core words, and often times a spelling
or meaning rule.
 Each unit focuses on eight core words that
will be your spelling/vocabulary words for
the week.

MONDAY: Word Study Notes
- Introduction to new rule and core words for the
week
TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY: Word Study Handouts & Sorts
- We will discuss new words and parts of speech as a class
- We will discuss new words and work to determine their meaning as
a class
- Core Word Definitions DUE on Wednesdays

THURSDAY: Small Groups & Word Study Rotation
- You will work in groups of about 5 students to sort
words, work on handouts, and practice with your core words for the
week.
- Core Word Sentences DUE on Thursdays
