Mediterranean diet
Food Pyramid (human diet)

The
food
pyramid
includes:
• cereals and
derivatives (at the base of
the pyramid),
• Vegetables,
• Fresh fruit,
• Milk ,dairy products
• Meat, fish, eggs ,
• Sugar and fat
(at the top of the
pyramid)
In the new pyramid were kept six
groups of foods, but the horizontal
stripes have been replaced with six
vertical ones of different colours,
namely from left to right:
• Orange :cereals and
derivatives;
• Green: vegetables
• Red : fresh fruit
• Yellow: oil and fats
• Blue: dairy products
• Purple: meat, fish.
The Mediterranean diet is a
nutritional model inspired by
the traditional dietary
patterns of three European
and one African countries in
the Mediterranean basin:
Italy, Greece, Spain and
Morocco.
Fruits and
vegetables are good
for people’s health.
Foods considered "healthy" may
be natural foods, organic foods,
whole foods, and sometimes dietary
supplements.
Such products are sold in health food
stores or in the health/organic
sections of
supermarkets.
Carbohydrates provide energy to our
body to be able to perform all
activities of daily living.
The meat is a staple
food to be able to lead a
healthy diet.
However meat contains
proteins useful for our
body.
Vegetables are the most
important food for a
good nutrition.
They are rich of
vitamins and minerals.
They have a low content
of calories.
Fish has a high nutritional
value and it contains vitamins,
iron and phosphorus.
Mediterranean diet is typical from Italy
and a lot of countries around the
Mediterranean sea.
Here’s an example of what a person can eat a day
according to the mediterranean diet.
Lunch:
Breakfast:
-pasta or rice
-meat or fish
-bread
-vegetables
-fruit
-Fruit
-Cafe or milk
-Jam
Dinner:
-soft soup
-vegetables
-some bread
-fruit

• Italian cuisine is characterized
by its simplicity, with many
dishes having few ingredients.
Ingredients and dishes vary by
region. Italian cuisine has
developed over the centuries.
Typical Italian food are for
example:
pasta, pizza, variety of
cheeses, cannoli, oil, tomatoes
Obesity!
CAUSES OF CHILDHOOD OBESITY
Childhood obesity has a multifactorial origin;
Rare are the cases of obesity involved to
hormonal abnormalities such as
hypothyroidism or adrenal malfunction.
The most of obesity events are produced by a
wrong relationship with unhealthy food!!
Finally food is a way to unite
all countries.
