The two Base Stations are connected to the
Central Node with bidirectional optical links. The
uplink signal (MS to CN via BS) and downlink
signal (CN to MS via BS) share the same optical
fiber via WDM (1300 nm in the uplink, and 1550
nm in the downlink).
The prototype described here is used in the
optical link between the central node and the base
stations (downlink).
This link is implemented using the SCM
technique in the band of 1.91 to 2 GHz, supported
by an optical carrier with a nominal wavelength
of 1.55 m.
In the design and development of prototypes
for the transmitter and tuned receiver, two
different technologies were involved: microwave
and optical.
