•
The Source is the start of the river.
The heat of the sun warms the sea and
the water evaporates then it slowly
condenses and creates a cloud.
The cloud slowly travels upon the
mountains. By the time it gets to the
mountains the cloud will be to full of
water and it will fall as rain and it
will form a little stream. However
other rivers begin in underground
springs although others are formed
from rain like the River Severn which
is produced in the mountains of Wales
in a peat bog. It even has a post to
prove it.
Tributaries
• A Tributarie is a stream
or river which flows into
the main river (e.g the
River Severn). All
tributaries drain water,
along with any
substances which might
have dissolved in the
water (e.g rocks and
sticks)
Meanders
• A Meander is a bend in the
river which is a bit like a bus:
when a bus turns a corner the
passenger is thrown to the
other side and all the soft
rock is slowly warn away
where as on the other side of
the river all the rocks, sticks,
grass and mud is thrown to
the other side like a bay.
The Mouth
• A Mouth is a river which
flows into another body
of water e.g. the mouth
of the river Severn flows
into the bristol channel
(Severn Estuary)
