Two Different groups of people called the
Great Smokey Mountains home but had
opposing ideas.
* Cherokee Indians
– were the first people of the mountains
– Lived 1212
– 800 years
– forced to leave the land
1800 Early settlers came into the area in the Told

Rocks and Minerals
• Most of the rocks in the great smoky mountains National park are
sedimentary and were by accumulations of clay ,silt, sand, gravel
and minor amounts of calcium carbide in flat-lying layers.
• Gold-most rocks in the great smoky mount ions are sedimentary
• Clay-They where formed out of clay, self, sand, gravel and minor
amounts of calcium and carbonate.
• Copper- the oldest rocks are 800-545 years old.
