Two different groups of people called the GREAT SMOKEY
MOUNTAINS home but they had opposing ideas on the land.
Cherokee Indians.

1838 they were forced to travel west to Oklahoma
Early settlers
Came in early 1800’s
Forced the Cherokee to travel on foot to Oklahoma from
Tennessee.

ROCKS AND MIARALS
• Most rocks in the smokes are sedimentary
• They wear formed of acumilashaons of clay,
silt ,gravel ,and minor amounts of calcium
carbonate
• The oldest rocks about 800-545 years ago.
• As more of theas sediments wear deposited
they wear compressed into 9 mile thick
sedimentary rock.
