The Chinese character "fu"
(meaning blessing or
happiness) is a must. The
character is put on a piece
of paper which is normally
hung upside down. In
Chinese ,the "reversed fu" is
homophonic with "fu comes",
both being pronounced as
"fu dao le." (happiness is
coming)
Paper cutting — Nian nian you yu
Nian Nian You Yu is a greeting
for Chinese new year~~Wishing
you prosperity year by year. “Fish"
and “prosperity" are pronounced
the same in Chinese "Yu“.

represents prosperity.
