Eating Disorders,
and FAD diets
What is Body Image?
• Body Image is how you see and feel
about your appearance AND how
comfortable you are with your body
What defines Body Image?
• CULTURE and SOCIETY!
• Clothing models and media stars set a
standard for attractiveness and
acceptability.
• GET THIS: Models represent less than 1
percent of the population AND are
heavily airbrushed!
What does it mean to have a
healthy body image?
• Listen to what your body tells you- eat
when you need to, stop when you’re
full
• Appreciate and care for your body
• Have realistic expectations about your
size based on your family’s genes
• Realize your weight and body shape
can change frequently and rapidly in
