Ties
A curved line that connects 2 adjacent
notes of the SAME pitch.
The tone is held as though 2 notes are 1.
(Sometimes, there are more than 2 notes
tied together.)
Slurs
A curved line that connects 2 or more
adjacent notes of DIFFERENT pitch.
The slur indicates singing smoothly.
Repeat Signs
The dots placed before a
double bar line means to
go back to the beginning
and play or sing again.
Repeat Signs – Do Not Copy!
This example illustrates where there is an end repeat sign
but no start repeat sign.
In this case you would sing or play through the eighth
measure,
then go back to the beginning and sing or play the entire
section again.
