 Use a negative tú command to tell your friend
or someone you know well what NOT to do.
Don’t talk, Don’t run…
 To form a negative tú command:
 1. Put the verb in the yo form (duermo, pongo…)
 2. Drop the –o
 3. Add the opposite ending
 -es for –AR verbs
 -as for ER/IR verbs

 Of course, there are some irregulars that you
need to memorize:

*Notice that the yo form of all of these verbs ends in –oy, not –o.

 have a spelling change in the ending
Car Verbs:

sacar (to take out)
practicar (to practice)
tocar (play an instrument)
pescar (to fish)

 Change the ending from ces to ques
 No saques, no practiques, no toques
Gar Verbs:





Llegar (to arrive)
Pagar (to pay)
Apagar (to turn off)
Jugar (to play)
any other words in the future that end with gar.
 Change the ending from ges to gues
 No llegues, no pagues, no apagues
Zar Verbs:




Almorzar (to eat lunch)
Empezar (to start)
Cazar (to hunt)
And any other words that end with Zar
 Change the ending from zes to ces
 No almuerces, no empieces
