a clause, therefore C is the correct answer. “Despite” can be followed by a noun,noun
phrase or verb-ing form. “In spite of’ is also correct. (Unit 5)
12. Here the key is the correct word form, the adjective form of the verb should be filled in here.
Therefore only A and D are possible, D is the correct answer because the form is correct.

13. This question checks the mastery of the verb phase. “Tell sb. off “ means to blame someone
for doing something wrong 斥责. According to the context, this (B)is the correct choice.
“Tell sb. and sb. apart “means to tell the difference between them分辨出 (Unit 8)

your decision. “Effect” when used as a verb, means to “ to produce something”, “to
make something happen”, therefore not appropriate here. B and D are not correct
choices in terms of meaning. (Unit 4)
15. This sentence checks students’ mastery of the word “abort”. It means “to stop an
activity because it will be difficult or dangerous to continue it”. Abortion is the noun
form. C is the correct answer. A,B,and D are not correct grammatically. (Unit 6)
16. This questions checks students’ mastery of verb phrases “set …”. If students still
remember the meaning of “set aside” learnt in unit 1, they won’t have a problem in
this question. The correct answer is “set aside”,留出（一段时间） (Unit 1)

答题要领
词汇部分的考题形式有词形考核，如12题(advantage的多种形式）；
同一个动词组成的多种词组考核，如13题(get …)和16题(set…)；
还有同义和近义词(14题的 effect, affect)。另外还有一些词型相
像词（intended, extended, contended, pretended)；动词短语和固
定用法(cope with, begin with, come up with, end up with)。
答好这些题的关键是对课本中的核心词汇要熟练掌握，做到举一
反三。学习一个词或词组时候，要了解它的用法，同义词和反
义词 等等。
核心词汇的位置：都是在每单元的课本练习和学生学习课本的练
习中反复练习的。

32. A is wrong. “Lack of” is a noun phrase, cannot be used as verb phrases. (unit 2)
33. A is wrong. The plural form of “cattle” is still cattle. 名词单复数问题(unit 3)
答题指导：
1 每个单元后的语法章节一定仔细看。
2 找错先找句子的主干，看看句子的主语、谓语、宾语有没有问题；其次是找其它错误。往往错误的
地方都是很明显的，而且是课本中涉及到的语法现象。

Analysis解题分析
一定注意连词以及其他关联词语（如重复词语，指代词的用法）。
上文中，b是一个概括性的句子，说明目前这一个情况。紧接着是C，提示语为“That’s 6
million…” .后面要接的句子有点难选择，但是比较以下剩下的三句，发现d是接着e的，a
是接着d的，这样就不难判断了。

这里注意，呼吁译成“urge”, “应该得到合理保护”译成 “should be properly
protected”
63. Don't look down upon others. In fact, you are not much better than they are.

这里注意“闹翻了” 英译为“fall out with”。还要注意关联词的用法。

答题要领：
这些词语都是课文中的核心词语，所以复习时要倍加注意。
翻译时，除了正确使用关键词，还要特别注意句子的语法问题。
