Verbos reflexivos
Reflexive verbs describe action that someone does
to or for themselves.
• washing one’s hands
• brushing one’s hair
The ending –se, identifies a reflexive verb.
• Ex. ducharse – to take a shower
pronouns
The reflexive pronouns in Spanish are:
me
nos
te
os
se
se
• Notice that the third person singular and plural
pronouns are the same.
secarse – to dry oneself
conjugation
yo me seco
tú te secas
Ud./él/ella se seca
nosotros nos secamos
vosotros os secáis
Uds./ellos/ellas se secan
Some verbs have reflexive and non-reflexive forms.
A verb is non-reflexive if the action is being done
to someone or something else.
• Lavo el coche a veces.
I wash the car sometimes.
• Me lavo el pelo todos los días.
I wash my hair every day.
When you use a reflexive verb with parts of the
body or clothing, use the definite article.
¿Siempre te pintas las uñas?
Do you always wash your nails?
Felipe se pone los zapatos.
Felipe puts on his shoes.
• You can place the pronoun before the conjugated
verb or after the infinitive.
I am going to take a shower.
Me voy a duchar.
Voy a ducharme.
¿Cuándo te afeitas?
When do you shave?
Me gusta afeitarme a las seis y media.
I like to shave at 6:30.
