templates provided in Microsoft Word to create
letters, memos and reports.
When creating, sizing, or positioning a text box,
change to a Whole Page document view for easier
positioning of the text box. Zoom in closer when
entering text.
Rules are:
Use comparative adjectives and adverbs (-er, more,
and less) when referring to two nouns or pronouns.
Use superlative adjectives and adverbs (-est, most,
and least) when referring to more than two.

classes will meet in the

◦ The taller of the two
men never considered
playing basketball.
Superlative, page 400:

she is the fastest.
◦ The shortest of the
training sessions is the

This week you are
introduced to the
correspondence and
report templates
found in Word.
When working with
templates, keep the
following in mind:
It is better to first
select text that is to be
replaced and begin
typing, rather than
deleting the text.
Deleting the text can
also delete embedded
formatting.
Let’s discuss the advantages of using a template –
consistency in document appearance, savings in
time, ease of use and so on.
What about your employer? Do they create their
own templates? Or are you able to create your own?
◦ Ok. You may not be working at the moment. Please
provide your thoughts on the topic. ;-)
Please type at least 3-4 complete sentences.
If time permits, please respond to at least 2
classmates!
Effective Communication Guidelines (for the future)
Make appropriate language choices that reflect your
knowledge and understanding of the topic.
Draw from a large and flexible vocabulary.
Apply conventions and rules of language
appropriately.
Practice clear diction, including appropriate
pronunciation, clear articulation of consonant
sounds, and distinct enunciation of vowel sounds.
Strive to eliminate distracting elements of dialect.
We will only quickly discuss the notes to study this

You will also need to identify misspelled words.
You will not be able to view your exam until after
the course has ended.
Before all final exam grades are released, I do go
over it to ensure everything is correct. I will make
adjustments, as needed.
Once you start the test…Finish it. I will not be able
to reset it for you. Do not leave the computer.
You will only have until the last day of class to
complete exam. I will not allow extensions.
Any questions?
If not, see you next
