You already know how to form usted
commands. You form the subjunctive the
same way.
For –ar verbs, take
The yo form, drop the
-o and add endings
with –e.
For –er, ir verbs, take
The yo form, drop the
-o and add endings
with –a.
Remember….
ar = e
er,ir = a
…take the opposite ending.
You use the indicative to make
a plain statement of fact.

You use the subjunctive after verbs &
expressions that involve uncertainty.
Es necesario que (tu) hagas ejercicio.
In the second example, a person needs to exercise,
uncertain that the person will.
but it is
Impersonal expressions such as

are often
followed by the subjunctive because they
create uncertainty about what will
happen.

verbs to keep the pronunciation the same
