To express “IF CLAUSES” If I could… I would… Si tuviera dinero, estaría feliz. If I had money, I would be happy. 2. To express what WOULD HAPPEN. Mi papá dijo que compraría el carro pero nunca lo compró. My dad said he would buy the car but he never bought it. 3. To express “PROBABILITY” (same as future tense) Mi abuela tendría unos veinte años cuando conoció a mi abuelo. My grandma was probably about twenty years old when she met my grandpa.
