This week in Reading our close reading
book was “The Snowy Day.” We
reviewed characters and setting and
learned a new concept – plot. The
children made flip/flap books about the
beginning, middle, and end of the story.
Our new Rainbow Words are on and had.
We read a little book about Pete the
Cat.
In Math the children used snap cubes to
measure objects. We even measured
our footprints & graphed them from
longest to shortest. We played a roll
the die game to add one more or
subtract one fewer from numbers.
We have been learning about Advent &
the Christmas story. Our paper figures
of Mary & Joseph are travelling around
the classroom toward Bethlehem. We
are also making lots of Christmas crafts
& noting the beginning letter of each
craft (a-angel, b-bell, c-candy cane).
Many thanks to Mrs. Davenport,
Jackson’s mom, for being our
Mystery Reader this week.
Our Star Student of the Week last week
was Sophia Z. and this week’s Star is
Logan.
Our annual Christmas concert will be held
this Tues., Dec. 9 at 6:30 PM. Although
the Kindergarteners will not be
performing, attending it would be a
wonderful way to stir up that holiday
spirit.
Many thanks to those who have helped
with our Rhyme Time bags thus far. The
children are loving this and doing a great
job rhyming!
Please see this week’s homework packet
for further info about the Santa Shop.
We will be visiting Tuesday AM.
Parents/grandparents are invited to our
Christmas tree making on Mon., Dec. 15,
1:15-2:00, lunch room.
