Christmas Dinner
• Traditionally, dinner should not be served until the
first star has come out
• Christmas soup: it is a soup with grouts and
mushrooms.
• After soup we eat fried carp with potato salad
• Christmas cake, which is called vánočka, used to be a
part of dinner .
• An extra plate should also be prepared in case an
unexpected guest or a person in need comes by the
house at dinner time.

• On Christmas Eve until the evening, we cannot
eat any food.
• We have to wait for Christmas dinner because
we want to see „golden pig“

• After dinner, everyone around the table may
sing Christmas carols before moving to the
Christmas tree, which is all lit up and
beautiful.
• Czech children believe that Christmas gifts are
brought by Baby Jesus, who comes into the
room throught a window to leave the
presents.
