Winter in Poland is a special
time for children. This time
Santa
Claus comes, then we
have advent, Christmas, New
Year and time for crazy fun in
the snow…
On 6th December, Santa Claus comes
to good children and brings ideal gifts…
4 weeks before Christmas there is
an advent - time for waiting for a
birth of Jesus Christ. Every day
children with lanterns go to church
for morning mass.
In the evening on 24th December, after
the first star has appeared, all family sit
at the table for Christmas dinner.
According the tradition there should be 12
dishes. The dinner starts with the wishes
and sharing of the Christmas wafer. Then
we sing carols and the children can open
the presents given by Baby Jesus. At
midnight everyone goes to church on
Christmas midnight mass to share the joy
of the birth of the Savior.
On 31 December, similar like in any
other place, we say goodbye to the
Last Year and we welcome New Year.
There is great fun in whole country.
Winter, winter, winter,
The snow is falling!
It is a time when children play outside,
ride sleighs, go skiing, go skating, make
snowmen, build igloo, throw snowballs and
so on…
