Miscellaneous Terms
Host
Controller
A board or motherboard chipset that
acts as the Host for a USB
connection, aka Host Controller
Interface (HCI).
 UHCI (Universal HCI)
 OHCI (Open HCI)
 EHCI (Enhanced HCI)
Root Hub
The ports of a Host Controller
Interface. Sometimes it is helpful to
view these in Device Manager but
this is not obvious how to do:
 View By Connection in
Device Manager.
 Note USB Root Hubs are
now shown under their
appropriate Host Controllers.
